Citronella works by blocking the scent receptors of mosquitoes, masking the carbon dioxide, body odour and body temperature that attracts them to people. Citronella oil is a naturally occurring repellent derived from citronella grass, part of the lemongrass family. It is golden brown in colour and has a strong citrus aroma. Citronella originated as a mosquito repellent in South East Asia where the leaves of the plant were rubbed near doors and windows to prevent insects from entering the home.

Waxworks citronella products are most effective when used to create a protective no-mozzie barrier around your outdoor entertaining area. It is the scent of Waxworks citronella products that keeps mosquitoes away. Here are some tips on how to improve the effectiveness of your Waxworks products. Waxworks products can create a protective zone around your outdoor area.

Place a number of candles around your entertaining area to form a natural mosquito repellent barrier.
On windy days the Citronella scent is more likely to be blown away.
To improve effectiveness, position your Waxworks products in areas where the wind is blocked and allow less distance between each product
To prevent an excessively large flame and minimise smoke, allow your candle to burn for 2-3 hours, then extinguish and allow to cool. Trim the wick to 6mm then relight.
Waxworks products are produced with Citronella Essential Oil which is effective in repelling mosquitoes - not killing them.

Please choose carefully. We do not refund your money if you have made the incorrect choice, found a cheaper price elsewhere or have changed your mind. We will happily exchange or provide store credit instead. We will only provide a monetary refund if a product is faulty and within the manufacturer's warranty timeframe.

If you wish to exchange an item or apply for a store credit please do so within seven (7) days of your original purchase.

Due to health regulations there is no refund or exchange on underwear or socks.

There is no exchange or returns on bows and arrows under any circumstance unless covered by a manufacturers warranty.

Items you are returning for exchange or credit must be unworn, unwashed, undamaged with the original packaging and tags attached. We have the right to refuse if any items are deemed unsuitable for re-sale.

In cases where issues with products are minor we will discuss the issue with the relevant supplier before making a decision on whether to repair, replace or refund the value of the item.

You can choose to refund or exchange if an item has a major problem. This is when the item;

Has a problem that would have stopped someone from buying the item if they had known about it;
Is unsafe;
Is significantly different from the sample or description;
Doesn’t do what it says it would, is not what you asked for or can’t be easily fixed.

Goods are your responsibility until they reach our shop, so make sure they are packed in a way that they will not be damaged during shipping. We recommend you use registered post or a courier because we will not be held responsible for items lost in transit whilst being returned to us. Postage costs for returning goods is at your expense.

We will refund the cost of postage when any returns are the result of an error made by us.
