The Opinel N°08 folding knife, accompanied by a synthetic leather sheath, is an ideal gift for any outdoor enthusiast. Crafted from Sandvik stainless steel, the blade is designed to maintain its sharpness for years with minimal upkeep. The lightweight faux-leather sheath is both durable and practical, easily attaching to belt loops and backpacks without hindrance.

With a legacy spanning over 130 years, Opinel has been producing high-quality knives and tools in the French Alps, utilising traditional craftsmanship and premium materials. This iconic knife, first introduced in 1890, has garnered a loyal following among explorers, artists, farmers, and chefs. It is equipped with the Virobloc® safety ring, ensuring the blade remains securely opened or closed during use.

Hardness 55-57 HRC. European origin. The stainless steel used in OPINEL blades is a grade optimized to guarantee both high corrosion resistance and high mechanical performance. The blade offers excellent sharpness and high resistance to abrasion (wear) which allows it to withstand regular contact with hard materials, such as ceramics, before requiring re-sharpening. Stainless steel has the advantage of requiring no special maintenance under ordinary conditions of use, unlike carbon steel. Nevertheless, it can meet its limits when it is put in prolonged contact with an aggressive environment (acid, salt water, detergent ...).

The classic Opinel blade has adopted a Yatagan shape. The Yatagan shape is inspired by a traditional Turkish saber, the toe up. The blade is ground to an exclusive convex profile that ensures the strength of the blade and allows efficient regrinding.

Beech is the most commonly used wood for the manufacture of Opinel handles. From France, beech is hard, durable and easy to work. With a homogeneous appearance, its light color varies from yellow to pink. It is characterized by the presence of numerous small dark dashes.

Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all folding knives from the N° 06. Cut out of stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade open (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade closed (safety in transport).

Change of Mind Returns

For change of mind returns we will happily refund, exchange or credit most items on the following terms;

You return your items within 30 days of purchase;
The items are unused, unworn, and are within their original packaging with the tags still on; and
You have your receipt.

We will not accept change of mind returns, exchanges or credit under any circumstance for the following items, so please choose these very carefully:

Bows or Arrows;
Underwear or Thermals with hygiene stickers removed
Clearance items
If we have specially ordered an item for you.

If you do not have your receipt, have waited longer than 30 days, or we deem the item unsuitable for resale due to damaged packaging and/or missing tags then we are entitled to refuse your return, credit or exchange request.

Faulty Item Returns

For returns of items that are faulty the following terms and conditions apply as per Australian Consumer Law;

We will assess the product and determine whether the fault is minor or major.

In cases where issues with products are minor we will discuss the issue with the relevant supplier before making a decision on whether to repair, replace or refund the value of the item; or

In cases we have deemed the fault as major then you can choose to refund or exchange the item. This may occur after we have discussed the item with the relevant supplier. This is when the item has a problem that would have stopped someone from buying the item if they had known about it, is unsafe, is significantly different from the sample or description, doesn’t do what it says it would, is not what you asked for or can’t be easily fixed.

Returns & Postage

Goods are your responsibility until they reach our shop, so make sure they are packed in a way that they will not be damaged during shipping. We recommend you use registered post or a courier because we will not be held responsible for items lost in transit whilst being returned to us. You are responsible for any postage costs related to sending any item back to us because of a change of mind.

We will refund the cost of postage when any returns are the result of an error made by us.
